Imre Benkő has been always planning and dealing with long-term projects. Usually he is working on a topic for 15-25 years. He is operating in shady weather, takes pictures always on film material, always manual setting, he never cuts the image. His main field of interest is the visual interpretation of the real life, the characteristic description of the man and his environment with a subjective documentary approach. On two occasions (1975, 1978) he won gold medals at the World Press Photo competition.
