Of Birds and Men

Other titles: Madárszabadítók / Release on Wings

Janos (Hungary) and Marios (Greece) have both sacrificed 25 years of their lives to save birds. Two obsessed and workaholic “medicine men”, who run their own bird hospital and avian asylum only by donations 1800 kilometers away. Janos is recognized veterinarian in the Hungarian Plain (Hortobagy), Marios is an autodidact on a small Greek island, Paros. They have limited financial resources, equipment and staff, Day by day they receive injured, stricken, wounded by hunting, or sick animals in boxes. Wing-broken storks are waiting for prosthesis, poisoned or wire-shocked predators waiting for operation. Some birds stay in the asylum, but some of them seek new home and family again after recovery. Janos and Marios face with death and hope all the time. The best moment in their mission of healing is, when they can release a bird after a successful treatment. It is a fantastic experience bringing them back to Mother Nature.
